During the Progressive Era changes were made to help with public health. For example, in our era the Pure Food and Drug Act helped prevent poisonous foods and drugs from being put on the market harming everyone. Although, in the Civil Right's Era health care was unjust then the Progressive. In that era where racism ran rampant, so was racism in health care. Blacks had an infant mortality rate that were 1.5 times more high then whites and blacks were more then twice as likely to get diabetes then whites as well. This was because black patients were turned to low-quality hospitals. Health in the Progressive was reasonably equal throughout the Era , but of course the rich could afford better due to them having more money.
The Progressive Era was an era of reforms and change. Many of these reforms were for labor, economic, and political change. The Progressive Era started from around 1890 to 1920.

In the Progressive Era child labor and safety for workers was the most pressed issue. This shows for many Labor Reforms and Work Safety Reforms were made to help benefit the safety working conditions and freedoms for the public. For example, Breaker Boys; children that worked in mines breaking down coal in cramped heat intense rooms and had a short life expectancy's were granted better working conditions thanks to the Progressive Reforms.
But, labor in the Civil Right's Era had to be worse for strikes were constantly made in the streets by workers for dangerous working conditions, etc. Some of them ended up in violence, which resulted in some deaths.
I wish we had Progressive Reforms...
Thank you, Labor Reforms!
The Civil Rights Era helped shape equality for everyone by having equal rights for blacks, women, and for minority's. The Civil Rights Era started from the early 1950's through 1970ish.
During the Civil Rights Era there was more protest due to unfair equality, which lead police to be more racist, violent, and extreme with blacks in general. For example, the Rodney King Beating, which happened in 1991 where Rodney was beaten by police at a traffic stop. Stuff like this was not done in the Progressive Era for most of brutality was in jobs and was stopped with the Work Safety Reforms.
What brutality!
1. Better Labor Reforms for workers and children.
2. More police brutality in Civil Right's Era then ours.
3. Superior Reforms in healthcare.
4. Better Democracy in Government.
5. Our Era's music was better over all.
In the Progressive Era due to the Political Reforms made had switched the power in government from full democracy to giving power directly to the people and the 17th Amendment that was passed on April 8, 1913 allowed senators to be elected directly by the people rather by the state legislatures. In the Civil Right's Era blacks could not vote only white men, while in the Progressive Era black men could vote.
In the Civil Right's Era the music was mostly about protests and for black freedom like the song "Oh, Freedom", but the Progressive Era's music was more dynamic and unlike the Civil Right's Era, was for everyone. Plus, some of the music in the Progressive Era is still known today as some of the classics such as the "Take me out to the Ball Game" and "In the Good Old Summer Time", which are in part of the Tin Pan Alley album. The Tin Pan Alley is a collection of the most popular songs made in the Progressive Era.
