Similarities/differences

both are similar because they have trinomials and mostly come out with the same answer .

They are different because

on one you have en dup with two binomials and in one you end up with only a monomial.

you have to use the GCF in order to find you answer in one of them.

Real world problems

Student had this in his test:

Solve and answer

2x^2-10x=8

2(1x^2-5x=4)

1x/-1 1x/-4

= 2(1x-1)(1x-4)

Similarities/Differences

The similarities between these two

are that they both have exponents

and can have both negative

exponents.

Some differences are that in scientific

notation you have have a positive exponent and in negative exponent ends up in a fraction and scientific notation it can be a big or small number

Real Word problems

ex: light travels at approximately

3.0 x 10 ^8 m/sec

how far does it travel?????

300,000,000

Ex: X/1 = 1/X^4

ALGEBRA 1 PROJECT

Example of Scientific notation

Scientific notation

*Its a method of writing a displaying numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10 by a power of 10.*

Ex: 3.0 x 10^8= 300,000,000

Negative Exponent

A negative exponent means how many times to dived by the number. that last example showed an easier way to handle negative exponents: calculate the positive exponent.

Ex: 3.0 x 10^-8= .000000003

Similarities/Differences

Both are similar because

both have exponents and

can be divided.

They are different because

the zero exponent always

equals to 1 and with

quotient rule you always have a coefficient, variable, and an exponent.

Real word problem

Student had this on the test:

2(abcdefghijklm)^0= 2(1)/4x=1/2x

-----------------

4x

Zero exponent

*It means anything raised to the zero power = 1.*

ex: 5^10/5^10= 1 ex: X^3/X^3=1

Quotient Rule

*

The big numbers divide and the small numbers subtract*

Ex: 10X^5/5X^2= 2X^3

Greatest Common factor

By: Jonathan guillen

and Icxau Martinez

2B

*the largest positive integer that divides the number without a remainder.*

Factoring trinomials into two binomials

Ex: 2x^2-10x+8

2(x^2-5x+4)

Finding two binomials that when multiplied together to produce the given trinomial.

a=1 b=-5 c=4

4x^2-16x+16

(2x)^2-2(2x)(4)=4^2

(2x-4)^2
