Diagnostics

Prenatal Tests

!Fun Fact!: Some of time there are no symptoms and you live a normal life, you just have have an extra chromosome.

........................................

With all of these tests the only surefire way of confirming Triple X syndrome is Genetic testing such as Karo Typing so they can actually find the extra gene.

* Ultrasounds

* Blood tests

* Chorionic Villus Sampling

wispy projections of placental tissue

that share the baby's genetic makeup.

*Amniocentesis

Testing amniotic fluid

Assistance/Treatment

Assistance

.....................

Triple X syndrome is not really a disorder that can be affected since it is a random mutation in a gene that doesn't really do anything but define gender. But it's symptoms can be made better and assistance for the mental complications. Also there is no real cure so it can't be prevented.

*periodic screenings-to get quick treatment and find out whats wrong quick

*Therapy

*Educational help such as tutors

*Support from people and have a good environment

*Look for Disabilities Resources or Groups to connect

After Birth Tests

.......................................

* Karo typing (genetic test)

What Exactly Is Triple X Syndrome

This syndrome is sex-celled linked. It happens when a girl get an mutation resulting in a extra X chromosome. Historically people were diagnosed with it if they have early ovarian failure. Nowadays we know how to diagnose Triple X Syndrome with Karo typing.

Non-Disjunction

Mosaic:

This happens when the mom's eggs or dad's sperm is not developed correctly and an extra X chromosome is transferred.

This form of Triple X Syndrome is a malfunction happening in the embryo. It occurs before the embryo develops, so after fertilization the extra chromosome is found/developed.

Candidates

Li, Mingyan, et al. Iranian Journal of Pediatrics, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, June 2012, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3446055/.

Only girls can get this disorder because it is a sex-celled linked mutation. You would need a Y chromosome to be a guy and with this syndrome you have three X chromosomes. 1out of every 1,00 girls born have this. In America 5 to 10 girls are born with this each day.

!FUN FACT!:

Prevention/Cures and Research

There is a male version of this called Jacob Syndrome which is XYY and klinefelter Syndrome which is when you have double chromosomes

XXYY.

Research

Prevention

This disorder is a mutation in the sex-linked chromosome that just comes randomly. Although genetic it isn't passed through generation so it can't be predicted so prevention is near impossible.

This disorder is very well researched because it is very prevalent 1/1000 girls get it. 5-10 new borns in the U.S are born with it everyday! Clinics have almost completely stopped researching about it because it has been researched since the first case in 1959. it has been very well researched by a lot of clinics such as the Mayo Clinic.
