Highlands

Atlantic Coastal Plain

The Atlantic Coastal Plain is

the largest of New Jersey's

natural regions.

The Highlands region lies east of the Appalachians. The region is called the highlands because it lies about 1,000 feet above sea level.

Piedmont

The piedmont is a plateau region located in the eastern United States between the Atlantic Coastal Plain. It is the main Appalachian Mountains, stretching from New Jersey in the north to central Alabama in the south.
