There is a chinese family moved from China to the Untied States. When the narrators mom has to go back to work, the narrators dad gets mad saying " Chinese ladies should not work. When the narrator and her sister are going to piano it begins to rain. After the piano lesson they sit outside, after a while it begins to rain again .Mona goes inside while the narrator sits outside in the rain. Miss Crossman the piano teacher brings the narrator a white umbrella and lets her keep it. When the narrator gets in the car wreck with her mom she throws the white umbrella down the sewer.
