Phone Conferencing

Advantages:

1) It's relatively cheaper than Video Conferencing

2) More stable connection

3) It is safer for participants because there's less chance for hackers to hack into Phone-conferencing

  • Phone conferencing shares similarities with Video conferencing, such as: It allows more than two users to communicate with each other at the same time.
  • However, it also differs from Video conferencing. It has nothing to do with computer network connection and you don't need a computer for that.
  • Instead, participants must have a touchtone phone connected to conventional telephone network

Disadvantages:

1) Videos and text data cannot be tranfered through phone conferencing

2) Not many telecomnuication companys provide phone conferencing service

3) It's not convinient to host a phone conferencing

Disadvantages of Faxing

1. The cost of a fax machine isn’t expensive.

2. It is more efficient than mailing.

3. They are simple to use, doesn’t require much training.

4. Signatures on faxed data are legal

1) It needs a space for the bulky machine.

2) The machine needs to be on 24-7, If you turn it off you will not be able to receive faxes.

3) It would take a long time to transfer the documents if there's a network jam.

4) The quality of the document is often poor.

In conclusion, without ICT, we will probally still be writing letters across countries or continents and wait for months for a reply. How ICT has involved in our lives are no longer measurable, in every aspects, there is ICT.

Advantages:

E-fax (Internet Fax) is the use of the Internet Protocol to send a fax, rather than using only phone networks (Traditional Fax Machine.

Components of Video Conferening

Disadvantages:

  • A set of computer with standard equipments
  • Fast network connection (ensure quality of transmission is sufficient)
  • Webcam
  • Microphone
  • Video-conferencing software (oovoo, Skype...etc)
  • May not be as producticve as face-to-face meetings
  • Require stable network connections
  • Documents cannot be signed over the network
