What is their importance?
The reddish clay they used was called "terra cotta" meaning "baked-earth". Some artists used molds to make their creations while very skillful artists could use their hands for molding.
Metepec
A small town of Toluca, Mexico where artists have been making ceramics for years. Along the river were rich clay deposits for the artisans to mold.

The people of Mexico believe that the Sun's light makes people happy. The Sun-faced design is a symbol of happiness and can be created in many different ways depending on the artist.
