Sir James Jean created the theory in 1920.

In 1948 it was bought up again by Herman Bondi and Thomas Gold then further developed by Fred Hoyley.

Example of the steady state theory.

Density is constant over time.

What is The Steady State Theory?

A theory in which the universe is assumed to have average properties that are constant in space and time so that new matter mist be continuously and spontaneously created to maintain average densities as the universe expands.

Evidence:

The end of the theory sounded when radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Rober Wilson discovered the sodmic microwave background, the leftover radiation feom the big bang theory. In the 20th century the steady state theory was very popular, but now is rejected by majority of consmologist, astrophysics as the ovserbational evidence points to as big bang- type cosmology.
