Thuraya Alshareef

- First language affect on the acquisition of the target language.

- There are facilitating and interfering effects.

Classroom suggestions:

1- Take the advantage of errors by give the students feedback. Errors of native language interference may be repaired by acquainting the learner with the native language cause of the error.

3- Thinking directly in the target language usually helps to minimize interference errors.

Help the students to think about second language instead of translation.

Why or Why not?

- This effect is powerfull in learning process of the target language. (e.g. left-right/ right-left)

- Students who do not have errors they do not need to be treated.

Interfering

- The interfering effects are likely to be the most salient.

- Errors will help teachers to be aware about the areas that the learners need to improve.
