2. Lead up to the argument

  • Gatsby, Tom and Daisy all argue over Daisy's love from the past and present.
  • Tom asked Gatsby what kind of "row" he wanted to cause in his household.
  • Daisy yells at Tom to have a little "self-control."
  • Gatsby tells Tom that Daisy doesn't love him and that she only married Tom because he wasn't wealthy enough at the time for Daisy.
  • Tensions build as Tom pokes and prods his way into Gatsby's business.
  • Tom was constantly investigating on Gatsby and his employment and education.
  • Daisy bosses Tom around inside of Gatsby's house.
  • Daisy tells Gatsby she loves him and Tom sees this.

4. The Wreck

  • Myrtle Wilson runs out into the road and is hit by Daisy who is driving Gatsby's car.
  • Tom, Nick and Jordan stop to see the commotion and find that Myrtle was struck and killed by a car.
  • Police officers tell Tom that the driver didn't even stop after they hit Myrtle, and she was killed on impact.

  • Gatsby's first priority was to fire all his servants because he didn't want them to gossip about him and Daisy.
  • Gatsby's second priority is to have Daisy leave Tom and move in with him.
  • Daisy's priority is to make it known that she loves Gatsby and not Tom.
  • Nick finds Gatsby in the bushes by Toms house.
  • Gatsby tells Nick that Daisy was the driver of the car that killed Myrtle but he would take the blame for it.
  • Gatsby decides to wait outside of Daisy's room to make sure that nothing bad happens to her.
  • Gatsby waits outside until Daisy goes to bed with an intent to keep her safe.
