A Public Service Announcement: Peer Pressure

By Ally Sargeant

Bullying!

But remember...

Bullying is one of the most common forms of peer pressure. Because they feel the need to fit in and be more 'normal,' teens will start to change who they are. They'll be more tempted to join in on the bullying of others- simply because everyone else is doing it.

You can't make all the decisions for your kids! If they start to go down a dangerous path, give them love and support, provide them with advice, and make sure they know they can get help. They will have to face the consequences of their actions, and hopefully, they will learn! Just be sure they know and understand the dangers of substance abuse and bullying.

What can we do to help?

Peer Pressure

Peer pressure is a very serious problem among teens today. Because of the influence other people have on them, teens are pressured into doing things they normally might not do- such as drinking, smoking, or bullying.

  • Educate our kids on the dangers of peer pressure
  • Teach them the importance of being themselves
  • Tell them to avoid situations in which they might be pressured into doing something they are uncomfortable with
  • Give support!

Substance Abuse!

Teens might also be pressured into doing drugs, smoking a cigarette, or drinking alcohol- simply because everyone else is doing it.
