These two types of FIRST-Letter Mnemonics are most appropriate for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I believe these strategies might still be a little too difficult for the younger grades despite how easy they may seem
The materials needed for teaching this particular strategy depends on the content area and the topic.

Grade Level: Fifth Grade
The FIRST-Letter mnemonic strategy is used to improve student's ability to recall factual information when taking tests. Its function is for students to be able to: (a) identify lists of information in their textbooks that are important to memorize, (b) generate an appropriate title or label for each list of information, (c) select a mnemonic device for each list of items, and (d) memorize each list. This strategy involves organization skills and allows students to independently work towards memorizing the needed information.
- Both Acronyms and Acrostics can be used to remember and recall a list of things relating to the content/topic
EX: Mathematics Terms; The Metric System
- Both Acronyms and Acrostics can be used to teach, remember, and recall a series of steps to solve problems, etc.
EX: PEMDAS (Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) for Order of Operations
