Using an Elevation Map it shows the geographical height of areas on earth. Looking at the elevation map I can tell that the Mountains on the western hemisphere of the United states Are Higher then the one's on the Eastern Hemisphere.
Road maps show highways and specific highways. Looking at this road map the majority of the highways in Southern California.
Distribution maps
Distribution maps shows how different things have been distributed through out places. Looking at this map I can tell that The Roman Catholic Religion(Blue) has been distributed more then the Religion on Judaism ( White).

Define what a special purpose map is?
A special purpose map gives you location on various places, but focuses on certain detail.
The Poverty Map shows the lows and highs of poverty in the country. Looking at this Map I can see that lower eastern wisconsin has very low poverty.
This Political Map shows
National Borders, major cities, airports, road, national capitals, and other major Infrastructure. Looking at this map of Florida you can see the major cities and beaches of the state.

I have used special purpose maps when My mother and I went to Charleston for the first time we moved here, we need a map just of charleston so we could see all of the streets better because there were a lot of streets that weren't on the GPS. Using the map just of Charleston helped us better than using the GPS.

A special purpose map is one that has been designed or modified to give information not covered on a standard map. A political map shows borders, when a Physical map shows land cover.

GIS Technicians use special purpose maps because they work with multi-layered Geo-spatial data sets on the city GIS.
The population density map shows how many people are living in a certain area. It shows this by the most highly concentrated area. Looking at this map I can tell that China, And India is more populated then America.
Tourist also use special purpose maps becase when giving a tour around a certain location they may need a map that has more information about that certain location they are giving a tour about.
Special purposes maps are used to help you focus on certain details. Example: Topography, Climate or district.
Special purpose maps can be useful for trying to locate a place, find more about population, for tourism, for elevation and etc.
