Why is this a problem?

Requirements for Minors in NYS

• Too easy to obtain in the State of New York
• Women are getting an abortion without understanding the consequences.
• Women suffer from P.A.S.
• Ignorance to how an abortion is done
• Ignorance to the social repercussions

• Under the age of 14: Parental Consent
• Above the age of 14: HIPAA laws apply (Federal Law)
• Any women who wishes to receive an abortion MUST have a doctor's consent.

• Norma McCorvey - "Jane Roe" - her case to appeal for an abortion, never went to court to testify
• Henry Wade - district attorney, fought for infant's right to life, no abortion unless the mother's life is endangered

• Decision - the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has the right to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes during any of the three trimesters
• Ruling changed the abortion laws in 46 states
• Each state could decide individual laws on abortion in the second and third trimesters
