New York State Law on Abortion:

Andrew Cuomo's 'Women Equality Act'

Requirements/Limitations to Perform Abortions

  • Require doctor's to have medical license.
  • If within the first 24 weeks.
  • If necessary to preserve mother's life

•Achieve Pay Equity

•Stop Sexual Harassment in All Workplaces

•Allow for the Recovery of Attorneys’ Fees in Employment and Credit and Lending Case

•Strengthen Human Trafficking Laws

•End Family Status Discrimination

•Stop Source-of-Income Discrimination

•Stop Housing Discrimination for Victims of Domestic Violence

•Stop Pregnancy Discrimination Once and For All

•Protect Victims of Domestic Violence by Strengthening Order-of-Protection Law

•Protect a Woman’s Freedom of Choice

Why is this a problem?

Requirements for Minors in NYS

  • Too easy to obtain in the State of New York
  • Women are getting an abortion without understanding the consequences.
  • Women suffer from P.A.S.
  • Ignorance to how an abortion is done
  • Ignorance to the social repercussions
  • Under the age of 14: Parental Consent
  • Above the age of 14: HIPAA laws apply (Federal Law)
  • Any women who wishes to receive an abortion MUST have a doctor's consent.

Public Funding of Abortions

What caused this issue?

  • Unprotected Sex
  • Our focal point in our society is driven by sex.
  • Desensitization to death
  • The state pays for a woman's abortion when:
  • Her life is at risk
  • The pregnancy resulted from rape
  • The pregnancy resulted from incest

Biblical References for Pro-Life

  • Job 31:15*
  • Psalms 22:10
  • Psalms 139:13-14*
  • Proverbs 31:8
  • Isaiah 49:15*
  • Jeremiah 1:5*

Pro-Life

Pro-Choice

Pro Life

Pro Choice

  • "Religious ideology is no foundation for any law."
  • "Most people who are against abortion will never even become pregnant."
  • "Women who are raped or victims of incest should not be forced to carry out a pregnancy."
  • "Reproductive choice can be the only thing that stands between a women and DEATH."
  • "Doctors, not governments, should always be the people to make medical recommendations and opinions."

Reasons for Pro Choice:

  • Medium feasibility, High effectiveness

If under the age of 18:

  • Must have Parent/Guardian Consent
  • Must live with Parent/Guardian for at least 6 months

If over the age of 18:

  • Must have at least 15 hours of intensive counseling

Make it Extremely Expensive

Legal Requirements

  • High feasibility, Low effectiveness
  • Cost $10,000

Make it illegal with Judicial Review

Low

Under 18: -Parent/Guardian Consent

- Live with Parent/Guardian for at least 6 months

Over 18: -Must obtain 15 hours of Counseling

Make Abortion Illegal with Judicial Review

Medium

  • Low feasibility, High effectiveness

All abortions will be made illegal with the exception that you may challenge with a Judicial Review in your County.

  • Rape Cases
  • Incest Cases
  • Deathly consequences for the mother
