Timeline of WWII

FDR died. This was a very sad time. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Tokyo asks for peace and that they will surrender. So on Septmeber 2, 1945, Tokyo makes a formal surreneder and WWII is over.

Cabanatuan was a prisoner camp that the Japanese held American prisoners in. The US went in a resuced over 500 of their people. This was a 5 day resuce. This was one of the largest rescues in america.

1.5 million German troops invaded Poland. The Germans wanted to colonize the territoryand the native slaves there. German bombed the Polish airfields and attacked the naval forces.

Germany declared war on us. Hilter was afriad we would defeat Germany so Hilter decided to go to war against us. The U.S started attacking their U-boats.

Franklin D. Rossevelt signed the neutrality Act. This banned travel on certain ships. It also stopped trade between us and certiain countries.

Allied forces invaded northern France. They landed on the beaches in Normandy. This is the day when things started happening and changing. They call this D-Day

Hitler commits sucide. He took cyanide to kill himself and so did his wife. Hitler knew he was about to loose and be captured so he decided to take his own life.

The japanese fighter planes attack Pearl Harbor. They destroyed, air crafts, naval vessels, and killed many people. After this we declared war on Germany, Italy, and Japan.

The US droped a Atomic bomb on Hiorshima. This killed thousands of people instantly. It injured over 100,000.
