The Hero's Quest: Batman Begins

Meeting with the Mentor

Crossing the First Threshold

Bruce Wayne's mentor is Ra's Al Gul. He teaches Bruce how to fight and hide in the shadows. He also teaches Bruce not to show mercy to people who have done evil things.

Refusal of the Call

At one point, Bruce refuses the Call to Adventure. He says he doesn't want to join the League of Shadows, but eventually, Ra's Al Ghul convinces him.

The first threshold for Bruce was when a criminal was brought in for an execution. Bruce was supposed to kill him, but Bruce refused. He fought Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Shadows and escaped.

Call to Adventure

Hero's Journey

Bruce returns to Gotham and is now known as Batman. His tests are the times when he tries to bring criminals to justice. His allies include Rachel and Commissioner Gordon. His enemies are Falcony and the criminals of Gotham City.

Bruce meets a man named Ra's Al Ghul and he says Bruce should join The League of Shadows. The League of Shadows is a group of warriors who plan to eliminate all evil in the world.

Ordinary World

In Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne's Ordinary World is him living in Gotham City in a mansion with his butler, Alfred. Bruce was one of the only rich people in Gotham because the crime rate was very high.

The Ordeal

Return with the Elixir

The Scarecrow sprays a type of poisonous gas at Batman and he starts to have hallucinations. He is saved Alfred, who calls someone who can help him.

Batman saved Gotham City and the League of Shadows escaped. The only elixir Bruce got was the contentment that Gotham was safe.

The Reward

Resurrection

The Road Back

Batman gets more of the antidote of the poison and he gains the knowledge of what the Scarecrow could do.

Ra's Al Ghul is still alive and he went to Gotham City to destroy it. He said it had too much crime and they should get rid of it. Batman wants to protect the city for the good people who live there. Batman fights Ra's Al Ghul and ends up defeating him.

After Batman recovers, he goes back out to fight crime. He gets revenge on the Scarecrow and gives him a taste of his own medicine. The Scarecrow is put in an asylum and everything seemed to be back to normal.
