Georgia in the 1920's By: Alex Vassilakos

Which economic factor most directly caused the Great Depression?

What impact did the boll weevil have on Georgia agriculture in the 1920's?

Helping Americas environment included planting trees, draining swampy land and building parks.

Which New Deal Program had the greatest positive impact on Georgia?

After the crash and the Boll Weevil destruction, hundreds of farmers and factory workers were put out of work. The CCC put young men to work to help America's environment.

In my opinion the CCC ( Civilian Conservation Corps) was the New Deal program that affected Georgia the most.

Since people were getting jobs with the CCC they were able to make money to support themselves and their families. Giving them the ability to buy a house instead of living in shanty shacks and begging for food.

People invested their life savings into the market so when the market crashed those people lost everything.

The Great depression was aptly named due to the severe poverty that the people suffered.

The Boll Weevil is a beetle that lays eggs in cotton. The larvae hatch from the boll in cotton and feed on it destroying the cotton.

The destruction the Boll Weevil brought caused cotton prices to plummet to the point where nobody could profit off of it.

The Stock Market crash

The stock market crash was the worst economic factor that caused the great depression.

the boll weevil

The Boll Weevil is a beetle that came from Mexico into the U.S. with a thirst for destruction.

The Boll Weevil put thousands of people out of jobs(mainly farmers and factory workers) because of their destruction on the cotton fields.

The crash resulted in bank failures which caused people to lose all of their money. The people that took loans were borrowing from peoples accounts so when they didn't have the ability to pay back the loan the banks lost money. The banks couldn't give them their money because they had none.
