What is surrealism?

Surrealism is an art movement founded by the painter Salvador Dali. The images appear realistic, but upon further inspection, one can see the images cannot be real. They look more like dreams.

2. How is creativity and innovation linked with breaking tradition?

3. Is knowledge of technique important or is it all about concept? Both? Explain.

1. Must contain at least three separate images.

2. Images must be merged on a 16x20 canvas.

3. Image should be well-planned, creative, and interesting.

4. Use the same light, same angles.

5. Craftsmanship! Use your Photoshop tools and techniques to the best of your ability.

Brainstorm!

Erik Johansson is a photographer from Sweden. He now lives and works in Berlin, Germany. This contemporary successful artist does both personal and commission work for companies around the world.

1. Brainstorm

2. Plan. This includes sketching ideas and thinking of WHAT images you will need to take.

Remember: Same angle and light!

3. Take your photos and download.

4. Create a 16x20 PSD file.

5. Copy layers.

6. Use the eraser, clone, and healing tools. Other tools are useful as well.

7. Remember craftsmanship!

8. Save as a PSD.

9. Flatten layers and save as a JPG.

I get inspired by things around me in my daily life and all kinds of things I see. Although one photo can consist hundreds of layers I always want it to look like it could have been captured.
