Tawhid means 'oneness' and is the belief that Allah is unique and without any partner, including parents, siblings or children.

How are the characteristics of Allah shown in the Qur'an?
- While Muslims believe it is impossible to fully comprehend Allah, but knowing some of his attributes helps them to fully understand his nature.
- Understanding Allah's nature enables Muslims to establish a very close relationship with him through worship, which, according to the Qur'an, is the very reason humans were created (Surah 51:56)
- Knowing about Allah can also allow Muslims to strive to reflect certain divine attributes (Surah 2:138)
