-9 eggs
-9 cups (plastic or glass)
-72 ounces of water
- salt
-Measuring cups
1. Fill 3 cups with 8 ounces of water
2. Add a cup of salt to the 1st cup
3. Add 1/2 cup of salt in the 2nd cup
4. lastly add no salt to the 3rd cup
5. place an egg in every cup
6. collect the data.
7. repeat this step 2 more times.
The more salt you add the higher the egg
float.
The more table spoons of sugar you add the wateer in the cup also starts to rise.
- It is easier for us to float in saltwater than it is in freshwater because of density.
-An egg is denser than a glass of water, but not as dense as salt.
- An object can float easily in salt water because the saltwater is denser and can hold up the object.
My hypothesis is that the egg will float better in the cup that has the most salt because the water will be more denser and it will be able to hold up the egg.The water with no salt will not be able to hold the egg because the egg is more denser than the water.
In conclusion, I must say that my hypothesis was correct because the egg floated higher in the cup that had the most salt, which was cup 1 , and in the cup with no salt at all (cup 3), its egg just sank immediately straight to the bottom. I have learned during this experiment, that density is an important key into everything that happened during this experiment.
