St.Balbina

St. Balbina was baptized by St. Alexander. She is also the daughter of Quirinus, the martyr. She lived a life of complete chastity, so she never got married. St.Balbina and her father were martyred together during a persecution of Christians, an event recorded in the account of the martyrdom of Saint Alexander. After they had been martyred, her and her father were buried in the same catacomb on the Appian Way.

St. Balbina became a saint because...

She wanted to follow her faith in God, that is why she became a martyr.

She wanted to help people who were diagnosed with tuberculosis even though she had tuberculosis.

She was obedient, so she followed in her father's footsteps.

I can imitate my saint by following my parents if I know that it is best for me. I plan to help people who are in need. I promise to do my best in helping them.

Qualities:

She was obedient, loyal, helpful, and selfless.

St. Balbina is the patron saint of struma and scrofulous diseases. Struma is a swelling in your neck and scrofulous diseases are tuberculous infections of the lymph nodes in the neck. Her symbols are palm leaves, fine robes, fetters, and a laurel crown.

My Prayer through the Intersession of my Saint:
