What Is Mazeophobia

In conclusion

The data

I surveyed 25 kids all of which lived in the united states. I asked them on a scale from 0 to 10 how afraid they were of being lost. 9 people ranked it a 0 and 6 people ranked it a 10. Everyone else was in between.

Mazeophobia is the scientific name for the fear of being lost. The route word "maze" is network of paths and hedges designed as a puzzle through which one has to find a way out. people with Mazeophobia have fear of being lost and tend to have trouble finding their way. My research question was: on a scale from 0-10 how afraid are you of being lost or alone and why?. I asked only children. I found the most common

reason people are afraid of being lost

is because of kidnapping.

Although the chance of being kidnapped are very low it is still a terrible issue that is happening way too often. kids all over the world are being used for bad reasons and it needs to stop.

More About mazeophobia

Is It Rational?

58,000 children are abducted by strangers each year in the u.s. alone. That's roughly 159 kids per day. This means children have a 1/275 chance of getting abducted. To put this in perspective, statistically speaking one person in our school will get abducted. Could it be you? Don't worry too much, most of these abductions do not last more than 48 hours. I believe that it is rational to have a slight fear of being lost so you bring a map or cell phone but not an irrational amount to point where it impairs your ability to think.

Mazeophobia is most common in kids because they relay on their parents to keep track of them. When people experience this fear they can freak out and/or have a panic attack. An easy way to get over this fear is bring a cell phone with you at all times. Kids should also set up a plan to meet their parents somewhere if one of them gets lost

Mazeophobia

How you react to fear

You are walking home from a friends house at night, without realizing you turn on the wrong street. Its dark and all of a sudden a person jumps out and pushes you into a car. First your body recognizes the fear in the amygdala. Your thalamus decides where the person is. Next your hypothalamus decides to either fight, flight or freeze. It sends messages to your body and your muscles tighten and your pupils dilate. Your adrinal glands send adrenalin to your body and you have a large burst of energy.
