GOAL!

Conclusion

Each explanation for each level of the SAMR model shows how students can adapt their own presentations into the SAMR model. As a teacher, I could do the same adaptations and modifications in my own lesson over Auschwitz that would be following the students own presentations.

I think that using the SAMR model in lessons for students allows them to think more critically and use more resources to help them learn their content more.

Redefinition

To take the lesson assignment to the modification level, students could use other online media presentation software and programs instead of Prezi. Students could use Tes Teach and create their own min-lesson as their presentation and incorporate quizzes and images that focus on their particular concentration camp.

Modification

WWII

Students can modify their presentations on Prezi to incorporate videos from YouTube to help present their research. Students can also create voice-overs for each of their slides to help add in any additional details that they might forget while presenting.

Augmentation

Creating a PowerPoint presentation would be the most common and easiest way to fulfill the presentation component of the lesson. However, students can create an interactive presentation with Prezi and use Google Earth screen shots to show the distance from the concentration camp to Nazi camps and battles.

SAMR: Substitution

Students in the past, could use a map that would be hanging on the wall to locate their camp and use their textbook as a reference. The incorporation of technology into the classroom now allows for students to use the internet and online maps like Google Earth.

So now, Google Earth can be a substitute from a physical map hanging in the classroom.

Lesson:

Concentration Camps

Students are to get into groups of 2 or 3 and select a concentration camp from the list on the screen. After selecting their camps, they are to locate the camp on a map and research the camp to create a small presentation elaborating upon the camp and its primary function. Students will present their presentations on Friday and will have 2 class periods in the lab to research and create their presentations.

SAMR Modifications

For the lesson for my students, I wanted to go more in depth on the topic and take a look at the locations of the concentration camps and what each camp specialized in.

The previous lesson in this unit would have focused on how the Nazis came to The Final Solution and how Nazis chose to implement it.
