All About Kenya (East Africa)

Negative effects of European Colonization

How the culture of Kenya was developed

Location

One negative example of European colonization is that African people were taken advantage of. Another example of negative european colonization is it destroyed their way of life. Finally, my last example of negative European Colonization is the British took the resources for their own wealth.

Kenya's culture was developed from a variety of people. Many people use traditional african standards. The African culture was developed by immigrants coming into Africa and sharing their culture. The British shared their culture because they came in and took over. There is a blend of cultures and traditions in Kenya because of the diverse population traveling through colonizing the country.

Kenya is located in Africa. It is south of Ethiopia. It is also west of Somalia. Finally, Kenya is east of Uganda.

Political Conflict

Culture

Where is Kenya Located?

Kenya has many political conflicts because they do not have a stable governments.

Below you will see a map of Africa. Nairobi is Kenya's capital city. Kenya is located on the eastern side of Africa.

The Great Rift Valley is thought of as where the first humans came from. The first known tribes were Cushitic-speaking. They migrated to the northwest region from Ethiopa in 2,000 B.C. Thousands of years later, other tribes started to come into Kenya. The differences in the tribes often caused war. Then the in 900's, the Arab's came in and started to colonize Kenya. In 1498 Portugese explorer Vasco De Gama came to the region. Then the Portugese started to colonize some of the land ,but some Arabs did stay. Next, in the mid 1800's, European explorers came and were interested in Mount Kenya and their natural resources. Kenya was then colonized by Great Britain in 1895 until 1920. This was known as the Kenya colony. It has been an ongoing struggle for independence for Kenya.

"Kenya continues to suffer from tribalism and corruption, as well as high population growth, unemployment, political instability, and the AIDS epidemic."

Conclusion

In conclusion, Kenya is a wonderful country. It is a wonderful country full of diverse culture, people, and wildlife.

More History

How does the Geography of Kenya affect Human population?

The Masai tribe was the most popular tribe in Africa before the British took over. On August 7, 1885, five German warships came into the lagoon of Zanzibar with guns, and went to the sultan's palace. Kenya was colonized by the British in 1888. It was also one of the countries that Rhodes named. Finally, the British had an influence on Kenya by shareing parts of their culture and traditions.

Kenya is a largely populated country with many features. The lake has a large impact on the people and industries in Kenya . Many people come to Kenya because of the diverse climate zones. Most people live in the Kenya Highlands. The people live in the Kenya Highlands because three fourths of the country is covered mostly by bushes. Kenya is home to some of the world's most extravagant wildlife like elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, and more. The animal population is decreasing because of hunting and growth of the human population.

Positive Effects of European Colonization in Kenya

Colonial Powers

One positive effect of European colonization is that Kenya received more power. Another positive effect of european colonization is that Kenya received more awareness. Finally my last positive effect of European colonization is that the Europeans/British brought more technological advancements and trade into Kenya and Africa.

Kenya was established by Great Britain in 1895 until 1920. This was known as the Kenya colony.
