Plant Cell Analogy Project

Ribosomes

Cell Wall

Nucleus

Endoplasmic Reticulum

The Endoplasmic Reticulum is like the hallways of a school. The job of the ER is to move materials through passageways, and hallway is a passageway for people to move through.

The cell wall is like the outside of the school because the job of the cell wall is to protect the cell and the job of the outside of the school is to protect the school.

Ribosomes are like a copy room because the job of the ribosomes are to produce proteins and the job of the copy room is to produce copies of paper.

The nucleus is like the principal's office because the job of the nucleus is to direct cell activities and the job of the office is to direct school activities.

Cytoplasm

Mitochondria

Chloroplast

Cell Membrane

Golgi Body

Vacuole

The mitochondria are like the cafeteria because the job of the mitochondria is converting food to energy and the job of the cafe is supplying food for the students

The Chloroplasts are like the solar panels because chloroplast take in sunlight to make energy and the solar panels use sunlight and energy as well.

The cytoplasm is like the students because the job of the cytoplasm is to fill empty spaces in the cell and the job of the students is to fill up the school

The Cell Membrane is like the school security because the cell membrane is to keep bad materials out and the security keeps bad people out.

Vacuoles are like school cabinets because they both are storage areas.

The Golgi bodies are like the mail room/box because the job of the Golgi bodies is to store, package, and distribute lipids and the job of the mail room/box is to distribute mail
