The three systems which are nervous, muscular, and autonimic system create the feelings of fear. The muscle begins to tense stimultaing the automic system to release adrenaline in the body enhancing ones ability to avoid or fight. The autonomic system is not within the bodies control and respones with the only thought of keeping the body alive.
Soldiers fear whether real or not will respond through their autonomic system and activate their fear cycle.
By watching this video, it was able to stimulate a similar fear from what Henry felt during the beginning of his encounter with the war.
The fear, anxiety, and choosing whether to fight against the instinct to look away or face the video with a mental preparation of what is to come becomes similar to Henry's or any other soldiers thoughts and feelings during war.
We become fearful when we have an encounter with something we believe can hurt us and our body prepares to either freeze, fight or flight.
It is a natural reaction for soldiers during the war who need to mentally prepare themselves for bloodshed and death.
Hearing the crack of gunfire and looking down upon a dead soldier created the anxiety for Henry to become filled with self doubt of charging to battle or escaping to a safer area. This emotion designed him to prepare himself for self defense. Self defense awaken the body's senses to the fullest and adrenaline takes over to maximize the body's performance skills.
Maintaining fears and anxieties often leave soldiers feeling exhausted and hopeless. This leads to avoidance of the situation altogether.
In Henry's case he felt the hopelessness of the situation by thinking it would be better to just get killed and end his
When Jim handed Henry a packet of letters to send to his family and said that this will be first and last battle, he wasn't the only one fearing the war.
In this is the case, Jim made Henry feel that fear is not a sign of weakness but probably a sign of normalcy.
