What is a Polar Desert

A polar desert is a cold biome. it is winter all year around has a precipitation below 250 mm of water. The average temperature the polar desert can reach is 10 degrees Celsius. It has a higher latitude then the tundras biome.

Negative Human Impact

Some negative humans impact effects the polar desert because of global warming and its hard for the animals to adapt to the heat.Also it will becomes a tourist attraction and for them to come to the polar desert they need a boat and some boats pollute the air and it will affect all the animals habitat and there way to live, people kill so many animals just for fur coats and carpets and living them in the verge of extinction. and people will go mining for resources and it will destroy the animals land.

The polar desert is located in the Antarctica and it overs almost 5.5 million square kilometer. and another place where it is located is the Arctic Polar Desert it stretches to parts of Alaska, Canada,Greenland, Iceland ,Sweden,Finland and Russia.

Animals that live in the polar desert are Arctic fox, Wolves,Rabbits,Hares Polar bears,reindeer And Caribous and many more. There are are many types of birds like the snowy owl,Near polar regions there are squids,sperm whales,arctic cod, herring,Alaska pollock. All the animals need each other to survive in the Polar desert.

There are over 1,700 plants that lives in the polar desert which include Flowers, mosses,dwarf shrub,grass,moss,herb and lichens. Without the plants the herbivore will not have there proper food so they will die and it will disrupt the food chain and food web. also if the plants didn't grow plants produce oxygen to human and animals with out it we will all be dead.

The Climate is cold and the temperature rarely rises above freezing. Also in the polar desert it constantly snows. and the polar desert covers 5% of the earths land. in the summer time it can be as hot as the savanna desert. Also it is covered by snow and ice for most of the year. The most lowest temperature is -88 degrees Celsius .
