  • When he first ran for Governor he was rejected but he tried a few year later and got the role

At the Quebec Conference

he brought in the idea of an Intercolonial Railway but some delegates agreed and disagreed there were some pros and cons

The idea was accepted and is now known as apart of Canadian National Railways

even though he only attended 1 conference he made a huge contribution

He was for Confederation but because F.B.T didnt like the idea they got nothing done

He believed that Catholics should be welcomed to Canada and should have Churches and schools

built by the government.

After Canada Became and official country Shea was offered a role as the governor of the Bahamas. He accepted the role and moved to the Bahamas. after his 4 years of being governor he moved to London England to live with his wife and eventually he died at the age of 89. He lived long enough to see the the 1900's. They brought his body back to St Johns Newfoundland (his birth place) where he is burried today.

He strongly believed that the Intercolonial Railway would have an an effect in Confederation for any conferences held after or during Confederation.
