According to employers, why is there a

difference between pay and opportunity

for men an women?

Unequal Opportunity

Unequal Wages

Same education..

Same degree..

Same job title..

But still a wage gap.

  • It takes a certain type of personality to be successful, that only men have.
  • Men have more flexible schedules and are willing to work longer hours.
  • Men are more reliable because they don't have other things to worry about in life.

Men are constantly being given

the upper hand throughout their employment, while women are working equally as hard.

Example: Out of 4,000

full time men and women

employees with the same

degree, 85% of women

occupied lower level

positions.

Example:

Women make up 55%

of sales consultants.

However, male sales

consultants still make

27% more per year.

Why is there a wage gap?

If women are offered the same opportunity

to go to school, get an education, and

get a degree, why aren't they offered the same

pay within a career?

Are male and females truly even offered

equal opportunities in the work place?

On top of this, by 2010, 72% of men had received

one or more promotions, while only 65% of women had received promotions.

Discrimination on the basis of gender

Conclusion

What do employers have to say?

Jobs aren't hiring women for being women.

Why? Pregnancy.

The fact that women can get pregnant make them "unreliable."

Women cant keep up with brutal work hours like men.

Women have more going on at home, and they have more outside responsibilities than a man ever could.

Women create too much drama.

Men and women are not equal in today's society.

Gender discrimination in the workplace is one of many ways to show how men and women are not being treated equally to this day.

Male vs. Female

Is this all really because of gender?

Are employers truly discriminating against individuals in the workplace solely based on their gender?

Yes.

In today's society many individuals

believe that women are being

treated equally to men.

There are many arguments to go

about with this topic, and it is

certainly a controversial issue.

Are men and women really equal?

Does equality exist? No.

Example: The Workplace

Within the workplace we have unequal

wages, unequal opportunity, and

discrimination solely on the basis of

gender.
