Cuba was Spain.

  • Cuba gained independence in 1898 after the U.s. defeated Spain and the U.S. granted Spain there independence. Thomas Estranda Palma led this revolution.
  • In the late 1950's through the early 1960's, Fidel Castro's army overthrew president Fulgen Cid Batista, which lead to the death of thousands. He promised a good government but turned into a unlimited dictatorship.

  • Cuba is entirely in the western hemisphere.
  • Cuba's main language is spanish. 85% of Cuba is Roman Catholic, the other 15% is other religion. The ethnic groups are white (65.1%), mulatto and mestizo (24.8%), and black (10.1%)
