Classwork Part 1. You have been hired as a design consultant. Your client is Belkin, a global company that produces personal electronics and accessories.
They hired you to create a design for a phone stand. The stand must meet the following requirements:
• Capable of holding the phone in both Landscape and Portrait modes
• Non-skid
• The ability to charge the phone
Part 1. In the space below:
• Create a sketch of a phone stand that meets your client’s demands.
• Next to your drawing, provide annotations highlighting the features and functionality listed above.
• This is a first version prototype! This means the sketch needn’t be perfect – it’s a starting place for our ideas. The polished version comes with later revisions.
Today's Classwork
- Part 1 - complete the Prototype Sketch handout (5 minutes to create your sketch)
- Then sketch a phone stand that you would like to create - show as many details as possible (5 minute prototype).

- 2a. Haven't finished the original Phone Stand? Complete it now and start to create something based on your prototype sketch.
- 2b. Have finished the original Phone Stand? Model a new stand based on your prototype sketch.
Do Now: On the Do Now worksheet, identify all the 2D shapes that you see in the image below. Then recreate the sketch by drawing those simple shapes.
