Dr.Pepper 'Ten' Campaign

Dr.Pepper '10'

Dr. Pepper '10'

Dr.Pepper created a healthy alternative drink to their diet Dr.Pepper.

Targeted for only men, with only 10 calories, this gave a second option to drinking diet, as it isn't 'manly'. This caused an uproar

Dr. Pepper is marketing this product to men as an alternate to drinking diet dr.pepper, but if its a healthy drink, why isn't it marketed to everyone?

Dr.Pepper '10'

Utilitarianism

Dr. Pepper '10'

One can conclude the '10' campaign is not ethical

Dr. Pepper is not maximizing the happiness of their customers, or their profits.

It's not for the greater good, it's for men.

Deontology is the ethical belief that humans have a moral obligation to do the right thing when faced with a questionable decision

The campaign is considered unethical in relation to Utilitarian, and Deontological ethics

Dr.Pepper shortly removed their ads from television due to lost profits, and lost customers, but are still selling the product in stores

Dr.Pepper took a risk marketing their product in the way they did, and it resulted in failure. Dr.Pepper in the future needs to take in account all of the audience they are marketing to, and try to make their product for everyone to enjoy.

Sexist?

Dr.Pepper is displaying a large campaign of sexist ads for their product.

Dr.Pepper may be helping men, but is belittling women at the same time.
