This is a plant cell

Organelles and their functions

1866- Gregor Mendel publishes his investigations of plant hybrids

1665- Robert Hooke discovers cells while studying a cork under a microscope.

1838- Matthias Schleiden discovers plants are made of cells

The chloroplast coverts light energy into food for the plant.

The mitochondrion creat energy for the cell.

1683- Anton Van Leeuwenhoek

disconvers bacteria

1839- Hugo Von Mohl decribes in detail the mistosis of plants

The cell membrane is selectively permeable, which means it only lets certain things in and outof the cell.

The cell wall goes around the cell membrane and helps with structural support and protection.

The vacuole holds materials and waste for the plant to use later.

The nucleus hold information anout the cell.

The nucleolus makes rRNA and RNA, it sits inside the nucleus and also makes ribosomes.

The nuclear membrane is a wall like struckture that protects the nucleus from the cytoplasm.

The cytoplasm is a jelly like fluid that fills the cell.

The Amyloplast are the organs for the synthesis and storage of starch granules.

The ribosomes are a structure that makes protein.

The golgi body sorts and packages proteins for secretion. It also transports lipids around the cell, and creates lysosomes.

The centrosomes are a network of microtubules that participate in making the cytoskeleton.

The rough ER are found throughout the cell but are usually closer to the nucleus and the Golgi apparatus, they have ridosomes on them which are made from protiens.

The smooth ER regulates and releases calcium ions and processes toxins.
