I am an anarchist

Don't know what I want

But I know how to get it "

Communication.

Punk?

Can we talk about intercultural communication?

  • a subculture is a group of people within a culture that differentiates themselves from the larger culture to which they belong ("mainstream culture")

Why punk is different from all the other subcultures?

?

  • some researchers prefer the term co-culture, in order to avoid the connotations of inferiority associated with the "sub-" prefix

How?

Cultural appropriation

"Punk" is pointing out ambiguity of linguistic and non liguistic signs , destabilizing fixed meanings. Clothing and other media's purpose is not to communicate but to make communication impossible by being unintelligible.

Main meanings:

Adoption of some specific elements of one culture by a different cultural group. (In this case a subcultural group)

  • "it is good." (sanskrit)
  • sacred symbol both to evoke 'Shakti' in tantric rituals and evoke the gods for blessings in Indian religions
  • revolving sun, infinity, or continuing creation (Zoroastrian religion, Persia)
  • In alchemy, it was used to symbolise the four cardinal corners of the world and the guardianship of this world.
  • many more
