The Law of April 6, 1830 was passed in Mexico to counter concerns that Mexican Texas, part of the border state of Coahuila y Texas, was in danger of being annexed by the United States.
This law affected the settlers. It made the settlers mad and disappointed. They felt that the law was unfair.
After receiving the Mier y Teran Report, this law banned U.S. immigration and imposed taxes on U.S. goods. The purpose was to discourage U.S. immigration and gain control of Tx. This infuriated Anahuac Conflict the colonists.
anahuac mexican government stationed hundreds of troops in texas to enforce the law of april 6, 1830. fall 1830 the troops built a fort at the mouth of the Trinity river on Galveston Bay near an important trade route and immagration point. at this place any settlers that came into texas had to go here and pay taxes.
Mier y Teran Mexican officials sent him. when he got to Nacogdoches he saw these things and then wrote a letter to the Mexican Government. he notes the the u.s seemed to outnumber the Tejanos by 10 to 1. he warned that the american influence, particularly in east texas, was growing stronger every day.

Mexico sent Gen. Mier y Teran to inspect and report on TX. He reports
that Mexico should take action to reduce American influence in Texas
Texans had gone to Brazoria to retrieve cannon to help Texans at
Anahuac, fought with Mexican troops on their way back at Velasco.
When they returned to find the conflict at Anahuac had been settled
and Bradburn was fired for his actions.
