Theme

The setting takes place at the school on the track for track practices. Then at a Chinese restaurant for the newbies dinner out. Also the sporting goods store, and some scenes at his home.

The Theme of this book is Sports and how coaches can be a good role model and encourager for athletes, especially for kids who might come from a difficult family life.

Summary

Conflict

Summary

It was uniform day for the Track team and so Coach called out everyone's name to come get their uniform, but did not call Castle’s name and he got upset. Then Coach gave him a picture of Castle running out of the sporting goods store and it had in red big bold letters on it Shoplifter and Coach said that he saw it when going to the sports store to pick up the uniforms. Coach said that Castle is off the team and he would have to tell his mom about what he had done.

Castle begged Coach not to tell his mom and told him that he would say why he stole the shoes in the first place. Castle said that the reason he stole the shoes is because he did not want to worry his mom of the price of the shoes and he knew that she could never afford it. Then Coach asked why did you not ask me for help then Castle snapped at Coach saying, You are not my father!” Then Coach went and made Castle return the shoes and he paid for them. Coach said he could run on the team, but he would have to wear his old sneakers.

Conflict: Castle put the Silver Bullets in his backpack and ran out of the store and stole them.

The conflict is resolved by Coach paying for the shoes and making him return them and then Coach let Castle back on the team only if he’d run in his old sneakers.

Genre

Ghost's dad came home drunk and then ghost and his mom both went to hide in Mr.Charles's store then Mr.charles called the police and ghost's father was arrested and put in jail.

Ghost started to stop by to watch the track practices after school until the coach yells at him then the coach thinks if he offers him one run he will stop coming so ghost races against some of the runners on the track team and beats them and the coach ends up asking him to join the track team.

Ghost steals running shoes named the Silver Bullets from a sporting goods store

Coach said that it was a tradition to take out the newbies on the track team out for dinner on the first Friday of the season and Castle got invited.

Characters

The genre of this book i would

say is fiction because even though track and running is a real sport and what people do the charaters and the story is all maded-up.

Mr. Charles- Mr. charles is a store manger who helped castle and his mother in the book.

Castle Cranshaw(aka Ghost)- Castle is a bit of a trouble maker who was recently invited to join the track team at his school.

Coach Brody- Coach Brody is the treck coach at the school Castle goes to and helps castle many times in the book.

I would rate this a 4 out of 5 star because it was a good book and i loved to read because it was about running.

I would say the intended audenice for this book would be middle school because of difucult words in the book.
