The Philippine Revolution was between the Philippines and the Spanish colonial authorities in an armed military conflict. It started when the Katipunan leaders organized their party into a revolutionary government and declared a nation-wide revolution against the Spanish with aid from the Americans. After a bloody year of fighting both sides agreed to sign a truce pact of Biak-na-Bato which ended the Philippine Revolution
The longest rebellion in Philippine history is the Dagahoy Rebellion which lasted 85 years against the spanish. The Rebellion happened on the island of Bohol. The Rebellion was led by Dagohoy after his family was disgraced by the spanish, the main cause for the revolt was due to forced labor, spanish opression, excessive taxes and tributes
Jose Rival wrote two novels which incited Filipino nationalism and a revolt against the Spanish colonizers, he forced a civic movement organization names La Liga Filipina that was disbanded shortly after creation. This led to the creation of a secret society by anti-Spanish Filipinos in Manila who wanted independence from Spain through an armed revolt. The result of the Katipunan was that it later sparked the Philippine Revolution in 1896.
The signing of the Philippine Declaration of Independence happened in Kawit, Cavite. This happened under General Emilio Aguinaldo and his revolutionary forces proclaimed the sovereinty and independence of the Philippines from the Spanish colonial rule. This was the result of the Battle of Manila Bay
I rated this event of the Dagohoy Rebellion as a positive two because the indigenous people were being taken advantage of by the spainards ards and constantly oppressed. This being the longest rebellion in Philippine history, even though they ended up surrendering they stood their ground against the spanish for 85 years, refusing to conform and be surppressed. They demanded change and even though they surrendered during the 85 years reforms wee made by the spanish, taxes lessened, and forced labour decreased. Even though the rebels surrendered I consider this a win for their people because it showed the Spanish that they were a force to be reckoned with.

I rated the creation of The Katipunan as a positive two because it sparked Filipino nationalism across the Philippines and led to a Revolution later on in history. The more difficult the indigenous people make it for the Spanish, the more likely they are to win back their home country from their oppressors. After Jose Rival was exiled he served as a martyr for his people and sparked anti-Spanish ideas which led to the creation of the Katipunan and then the Revolution.
I rated the Philippine Declaration of Independence as a positive two because although it was not recognized by the U.S or Spain, the act of independence declared that the Filipinos were free and independent and begin to have a life of their own. Cutting all political ties with Spain. An act of nationalism is seen because despite not being acknowledged the people still portrayed themselves as their own independent nation and were proud to finally be their own country again.
I rated the Philippine Revolution a positive two because The Philippine Revolution marked and important turning point in Fillipino Nationalism, and was a major cause of the downfall of the Spanish Colonial Rule. The Revolution also led to increased unfriendly relations between the Spanish and the Americans and to have caused the Spanish-American war for territory.

The Battle of Manila Bay happended during the end of the Spanish-American war. After over 300 years of spanish colonial rule, the U.S Navy defeated the Spanish Fleet, which caused the Spanish to surrender control of the Philippines as stated in the Treaty of Paris that same year. This resulted in temporary independence in the Philippines.
Locals were unhappy with the Spanish colonizing their home so Cheif Dgami of Gabi and sixteen men planned a coup d'etat against Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The concealed themselves around the spanish settlement in Cebu, a spanish officer to Legazpi was speared and then later beheaded by Chief Dgami and his men. The spanish protected their people, The Peace Treaty of Cebu was signed 13 days after, ending the Dagami revolt.
I rated The Peace Treaty of Cebu as a positive one because the revolt led by chief Deagami and his men demonstrated the strength of the people of the Philippines and how they will stand up for themselves against the spanish. By the spanish realizing the legitimacy of the discontent of the indigenous people and proposing a treaty is a step in the right direction and a win for the natives. This Treaty will lead to further negotiation between both countries. This was rated as a positive one because even though a peace treaty was signed, nothing changed yet for the Filipinos.
I rated the Battle of Manila Bay a positive one because it resulted in temporary Independence in the Philippines, but only temporary. The Americans would later occupy the country. This battle however was a significant naval battle in history and it did mark the end of the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines, which was over 300 years in the making.
When the spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi arrived from Mexico colonization of The Philippines truly began. Their expedition continued northward to the bay of Maniloan where nothing was yet established.

I decided to rate the arrival of the spanish Explorer Legazpi as a zero because the arrival of the spanish explorer brought political unification to the majority of the islands in The Philippines. However the spanish did influence the locals with western practices and religion (Christianity). The spanish did not think they were harming the locals just improving their way of life which is why this event is not a negative, but their disregard for Filipino customs and traditions was not a positive which is why I rated this even only a zero and not positive or negative.
Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese explorer that sailed for the spanish arrived in The Philippines marking the day that the spanish discovered The Philippines
The American Forces managed to capture the Philippines president which made the Filipino forces lose hope and surrender ending the war with an American Victory. The U.S Congress passed the "Philippine Organic Act" which allowed the Filipinos the ability to vote for their Assembly.

The Philippines was a very important discovery for the spanish as they were in a footrace with Portugal for world colonization. I decided to rate this as a negative one because the indigenous people living in The Philippines will now struggle for independence for centuries. The discovery of The Philippines by the spanish will open the door for the indigenous people to be fought over and colonized by other countries.
I rated the Philippine Organic Act a negatve one because though American colonial rule gave the Philippines more freedom then the Spanish colonial rule, the Filipinos still desired complete freedom. They had once again officially lost their independence and would have a long road ahead to achieving their end goal.

The Philippine-American war started after the Philippine Rebulic resisted U.S occupation and was an armed conflict between the U. and Filipino revolutionaries. The war was a continuation of the struggle that their country has faced for independence that began with their Philippine Revolution.
The Battle of Manila led to the Philippine-American war and was the larest battle during this war. Before the war officially started the Philippine president Emilio Aguinaldo made an attempt to negotiate a cease fire to save costs and lives but the Americans rejected the offer. This marked the start of the long 3 year war that cost the Philippines an enormous amount of money, resources, and troops which set them into a financial crisis after the Americans finally claimed victory.
The British declare war on Spain, a force of the British Army landed in the Bay of Manila, the capital of The Philippines. Manila fell to the British, who planned on expanding to the islands but were met with a lot of resistance from natives and the spanish. The british and the spanish came to an agreement which resulted in the withdrawal of british troops from Manila, the spanish were able to retake control on Manila.
I rated the internal war between the British and the Spanish as a negative two because this war in no way benefited the indigenous people of the Philippines and only cost them more taxes from both sides and many civilian lives lost in the crossfire from both sides. The British did not offer salvation to the native, they offered the same as the Spanish, which did not make a difference for the natives, they would still be taken advantage of and oppressed regardless of the oppressors being Spanish or British.

I rated the Philippine-American war a negative two because not only did the Philippines have to fight and lose their independence it cost the government an enormous amount of money and resources that sent the economy into a crisis. This was definitely a negative event for the Philippines
I rated the event of the Second Battle of Manila as a negative two because this battle occured after the Philippines had finally had independence and endured the Spanish colonial rule for over 300 years, and now to try and be colonized all over again by a former ally. The U.S attempting to colonize the Philippines starts their country back at the beginning and will have to fight all over again for their independence as a country and take back their homes from foreign oppressors.
