Charles Townshend

Early Life

Political Life

  • In 1759 he became a British member of Parliament.
  • He then became a chancellor of the exchequer for the king.
  • He created the Townshend Acts, which were not liked by Americans. His actions helped lead to the Revolutionary War.
  • Lived from August 29th 1725 to September 4th 1767 (died at age 42)
  • He was born in Norfolk, England.
  • On 15 August 1755 he married Adderbury Caroline.
