Man has spent day with a lover

Asks her series of questions

1. Wilt thou then antedate some new-made vow?

Or say that now

2. We are not just those persons which we were?

3. Or, that oaths made in reverential fear

Of Love, and his wrath, any may forswear?

4. Or, as true deaths true marriages untie,

So lovers’ contracts, images of those,

Bind but till sleep, death’s image, them unloose

5. Or, your own end to justify,

For having purposed change and falsehood, you

Can have no way but falsehood to be true?

He claims he will win any argument

But decides not to debate this argument because by tomorrow he might feel the same way as she does
