Long shore Current- The current flows parallel to the beach and can carry large amounts of sand.

It can also cause spits, barrier islands, and tombolos.

  • Sand dunes
  • Offshore Bars- Helps protect beach from erosion
  • Foreshore- rises from water towards the crust of next feature: Abern
  • Lower lying shores- Dunes behind the beaches look like rolling hills of sand blown into place by wind.
  • White Sand- (granite) broken down into quarts and feldspar
  • Black Sand- (pacific ocean) Weathered volcanic rock

  • Human construction destroys turtle nests, coastal birds, and other beach dwelling plants
