"Trust thyself: every heart vibr-

Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Sefl-
Reliance"
In Paulo Coelho's novel, The Alchemist, the character Santiago falls in love with Fatima at first sight. In the novel, Coelho stresses the fact that if you lay eyes on someone for the first time and fall madly in love with them, trust that gut feeling. He shows that intuition is more important than reason: it probably isn't logical to fall in love with
someone in first sight, but if you truly love them
you would know.
"Greatness is a property for which no man can receive
credit too soon; it must be possessed long before it is
acknowledged." --Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance"
"I don't want to be anything other than me
I'm surrounded by liars everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by impostors everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by identity crisis everywhere I turn
Am I the only ones who's noticed?
I can't be the only ones who's learned"
"I Don't Want To Be"
~Gavin DeGraw
This song "I Don't Want To Be" reflects the aspect of nonconformity because it refuses to go with common standards but instead it illustrates one needs to separate themselves from everyone else. The song describes how the world is full of liars, impostors, and identity crisis people who only wreck you (Wrecking Ball-Miley Cyrus:)). It shows that the people who believe in themselves are the ones who
have a greater understanding of life.
