Define- What does the law say?

For example, Mark H. against Patricia H. and The Hawaii Department of Education: Court held that parents of two siblings with autism may seek monetary damages for the schools failure to provide them with a free appropriate education. (9th Cir. 2010)

(Ex: You have to have proof you have a 504 plan, you might need to participate and have paperwork in 504 meetings.

Non Ex: No proof, non disability, and have filed a lawsuit against 504 plan)

In 1920: The Smith-Fess Act (also called The Civilian Rehabilitation Act) was the first Civil Rights movement for students with disabilities, education, and for federal financial assistance. The Smith-Fess act and others who joined along protested about this for years. In 1973 (Civil Rights protection for people with disabilities) Section 504 was officially signed into a law. (Now called the section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973)

Section 504 is a Civil Rights Law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with a disability. Section 504 ensures that the child with a disability has equal access to an education and job.
