There is a lack of homogeneity in what seems to be a very Americanized holiday. The Christmas tree originated in Germany anyway...
MYTH
Cultural Hegemony: The forced adoption (by culturally diverse peoples) of a dominant culture's values and customs.
"American" music is highly diverse. There are so many different styles and most of us are strongly attached to at least two or three.
Music is an integral part of America, but it is not homogeneous.
