2 days after the call, a ziplock baggie with Diane's severed middle finger showed up near the area in which she disappeared, along with a piece of Diane's neatly folded clothing in a convenience store outdoor freezer. No connections were ever made leading to nothing.
3 days after Diane's disappearance, Diane's mother received a phone call from her daughter. All she could say was "Help, help, let me out." Only these words, along with a consistent scuffling in the background as if someone was trying to grab the phone away from her. Her mother then tried to call the number back, but no one answered again.
In 2000, a year after her disappearance, another bag was found at a different convenience store containing her eyeliner, lipstick and toothpaste. Creepiest part about it was it was labeled in black marker "Diane" and was discovered by her brother's girlfriend. Her mother told investigators that all of those were things her daughter owned and the toothpaste was the one she received when she left the hospital for her bipolar disorder. Investigators were not able too tie any of the items to Diane.
1. Most cases are kids, this is one where
she is over 40
2. With all these clues and even her torn
off finger, how has nothing been done?
3. With the repetitive nature of her belongings turning up, almost seems like the kidnapper is taunting or toying with not only the family, but the detectives as well
4. The disturbing phone call
One of the last places Diane was seen was the Coral Sands Motel, which was managed by Gary Robert Evers, who was convicted of murder once before, but not in the State of Florida. He is considered a possible suspect in her disappearance but has not been charged or has any connection to her or the case.
We personally do not believe this case will ever be solved due to the lack of forensic evidence besides the dismantled finger and her clothes. She's been gone for over 10 years with no signs of anything else being done on the case or any other evidence turning up. Her case remains unsolved.
Diane Louise Augat had bipolar disorder and also had problems with drugs and alcohol
in the past.
Diane was last seen walking on the street
in Hudson, Florida on April 10th,1998 when she was never seen again.
