Vikings established over north of Scotland (900 AD)

The Viking age began in Europe lasted about 700 AD to 1100 AD. The vikings came from 3 countries of Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The name 'Viking' comes from a language called 'Old Norse' which means 'pirate raid'. During this time, many Vikings left Scandinavia to raid other countries.

The Vikings attack a Christian monastery at Lindisfarne in 793 AD.

The Vikings were driven out of the mainland of Scotland by 1100 AD, but they remain 'lords of the isles' (Western Isles) until 1200 AD.

For 500 years, about 900 AD, Vikings rule the north of Scotland, the Orkney, Shetland isles and the Hebrides Islands off the west coast. While they were in Ireland, they found the city of Dubai.
