Solomon Islands:

The flag of the Solomon Islands was officially adopted on November 18, 1977. The five white stars represent the five main island groups. Blue is said to represent the surrounding ocean; green represents the land, and the yellow stripe is symbolic of sunshine.

Where is the Solomon Islands?

This is their role as well as providing other forms of aid such as funding, education and armed forces to improve the essential areas of life.

Australia has given $2 billion dollars since 2003 in funding, and is estimated to have given $164.4 million from 2013 to the end of 2014 alone.

This much needed money has been used to repair security and create peace (armed forces).

Programs have also begun on health; such as reducing malaria, education and rectifying their economy (Funding).

  • Education is not compulsory, and many schools charge fees.
  • Most people consider themselves to be part of an immediate family of 200 and can trace back their ancestors at least ten generation.

The Past in the Solomon Islands..

Head Hunting

Skull Island in Solomon Islands,is a small island located in VonaVona Lagoon that contains a headhunting shrine. The centerpiece of the shrine is an elaborately carved container that holds the skulls of the chiefs of the local village. Littered around the chief’s shrine are the skulls of the chiefs victims. A very eerie and interesting look into the headhunting days of the area. Its hard to get an accurate idea of when headhunting actually ended in the Solomons (if at all), but apparently it continued pretty widespread until about 40 years ago.
