Pollution has been lowered because of on new cars from 1989 on, with retrofitting of catalytic converters(gas without lead) Now gasoline Emissions has been cut by 30% to 50% for 1993-1997 model cars.

Germany is replacing normal coal and fossil fuel factories with taller smoke stacks to get it futher away from the clouds (causing the rain).The National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). has created a maximum amount of SO2 and NOx emissions .The German government accepted the European Union to accept American emissions standards . New cars standards from 1989 on, with retrofitting of catalytic converters(new models with engines of no larger than 2 liters of gas space) The lead levels in Germany dropped steadily after lead began to be removed from gasoline Emissions had to be cut by 30% to 50% for 1993-1997 model cars.
One of the only limitation is that their is horrible damage done to the wildlife in Germany and nothing can fix the damage caused by acid rain . The new standards have done very well to stop acid rain occurring so often but the problem is still in our mists and the 50% of the black forest in Germany can not be savored.

Some problems caused by acid rain is when it sinks into the ground kills plants which kills the animals that ruins the hentire food chain. In Germany more than 50% of the black forest has died because of acid rain soaking into the leaves and polluting the soil that the trees grow in .It has also caused pollution in rivers lakes and has also effected humans giving them cancer and other illnesses

Acid rain is caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are released into the air. The chemicals are combined with water and oxygen, to create mild mixtures of sulfuric and nitric acidic substances . Wind and weather may spread the acidic mixtures across the globe and over many miles. When acid rain reaches Earth, it contaminates the soil and water sources making nature suffer because of the acidic substance.
