After spending years working and watching his family grow up he is now enjoying life in Singapore.

Hock Chee had many hobbies.

  • He played basketball and soccer.
  • He loved chess and stamp collecting.
  • He was 18 years old when he had his first girlfriend.

Hock Chee had many interests growing up. When he was younger he didn't think about what to be he just wanted to be better.

  • His favorite food was chicken drumsticks.
  • Blue was his favorite color.
  • The Three Musketeers was his favorite book. He imagined himself as D'Artagnan
  • Hock Chee now has 4 grandchildren he loves dearly.
  • He enjoys photography and playing chess.
  • Hock Chee travels often to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Hock Chee is my grandfather. He is my dad’s father.

  • Hock Chee was born in Singapore in 1948.
  • He lived with his 4 sisters and his parents in a very small house.
  • When he was only 4 years old he fell into a drain and was taken to the hospital for stitches .

  • 1947 - Hock Chee was born
  • 1951 - Hock Chee fell in a drain and received stitches
  • 1965 - Hock Chee graduated high school.
  • 1973 - He returned to Singapore
  • 1974 - He married Puay Koon Tan
  • 1974 - He joined the Economic Board of Singapore
  • 1975 - Moved to Germany
  • 1976 - Borg Tsien was born
  • 1977 - Sern Yong was born
  • 1978 - Returned to Singapore
  • 1979 - Resigned from the Economic Board
  • 1988 - Moved to London
  • 1992 - Moved to Frankfurt
  • 1995 - Returned to Singapore and appointed as Director of the Trade Development and Singapore Design Center.
  • 2003 - Ella, his first grandchild, was born.
  • 2005 - I was born.
  • 2006 - His father passed away.
  • 2007 - Ari, my younger brother was born.
  • 2008 - My cousin Nigel was born.
  • 2010 - His mother passed away.

Hock Chee traveled alot and lived abroad for many years.

School was fun for Hock Chee but he really HATED homework.

  • His favorite teacher was his form teacher, like Mr. Isaac.
  • Hock Chee's favorite subject was mathematics, just like me.
  • At school Hock Chee's favorite things to do were reading and playing in the open fields.

As a teenager Hock Chee lived in Singapore. There were riots in Singapore in 1964.

  • Hock Chee always believed he could have done better at school. He was naughty but not rebellious.
  • He got a scholarship to study in Germany.
  • Hock Chee graduated from Maris Stella high school, an all boys school, when he was 18.
  • Hock Chee studied in Germany and returned in 1974 to marry Puay Koon Tan.
  • He joined the government as a trade advisor and moved back to Germany.
  • Hock Chee and Puay Koon had two sons, Borg Tsien and Sern Yong, my father.
