Self-efficacy is a person's judgement about being able to perform a particular task. Unlike self-esteem, self-efficacy reflect how confident students are about performing SPECIFIC tasks.
Therefore, a high self-efficacy in one are may not coincide with high self-efficacy in another area.
If a student has been successful at a skill in the past, they will probably believe that they will succeed at that skill in the future.
When a student sees another student accomplish a task, the vicarious experience of observing a model can also have a strong influence on self-efficacy.
Telling your students, "You can do this."
