Stan has and external conflict with Mr.Cressner. This conflict drives the story because the challenge that Cressner gives Stan is what the whole story is about. I believe that the lesson of this story is to not put your trust in someone that you know is a liar. I think that's the lesson of the story because the story resolves with Stan completing the challenge and Mr.Cressner taking back the deal he made. Stan is able to take care of himself with this problem, but someone he cared for was killed before he could stop it. I liked the ending because it resulted in Mr.Cressner getting what he deserved.
The story is told in first person from Stan's point of view. It causes lots of suprises to occur in the story, but also allows you to understand what Stan is thinking. The story starts with Stan meeting Mr. Cressner in his apartment. It is revealed that Mr. Cressner could easily get Stan in trouble with the law very easily, and he gives Stan a challenge to stop that from happening. Stan is pretty much forced to circumnavigate Mr. Cressner's apartment building from one of the top floors.
I thought that this story was clever and interesting. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anybody.
